Awards are made twice yearly: Fall Call for Proposals is for Spring & Summer of following year; Spring Call for Proposals is for Fall & Winter of following year. Proposals are blind reviewed by the appropriate College/Library Professional Awards Committee.

Purpose:
To enhance faculty research and professional projects through attendance at a conference or workshop that offers specific training in project/research skills, methods, techniques, and/or theoretical advances.

Eligibility:
Tenured and tenure-track faculty.

Funding:
Awards range from $200-$1,000. Approximate total budget is $20,000.

Guidelines:
1. The conference or workshop must include specific training in skills, methods, techniques or theories relevant to the applicant's current or planned research/project. Applicants are urged to consult with their respective college or department colleagues for clarification of eligible research activities in their field. Attendance at conferences or workshops outside of one's discipline is encouraged if a connection to professional projects is demonstrated. Applicants who are scheduled presenters at an academic meeting in their discipline are encouraged to seek funding from their department or college for travel associated with their presentation. In contrast, the Research Study Program is designed for study IN ADDITION TO one's regular disciplinary conference, that offers professional training in a new research technique or skill.
2. Attendance in the conference or workshop must directly enhance current or planned RESEARCH OR CREATIVE PROJECTS. Attendance at conferences, workshops or sessions with a primary focus on teaching skills and/or teaching applications should be funded via the Teaching Resource Center (TRC).
3. Application must be accompanied by a conference program (website printout acceptable). Applicants submitting for a spring or summer conference that cannot attach a published conference schedule may instead attach a conference call or published meeting description.
4. The award will apply only to the approved meeting and is not transferable to other conferences.
